Friday, 16 December 2022, 8 p.m.

Apollo 17, the last flight to the moon, had lift-off from Earth on Dec. 7 and, back from moon, splashed down on Dec. 19.
Let us celebrate this historic date with a review of the Apollo missions.

Description

Project Apollo was the third human spaceflight program from NASA in the 1960s. Project Apollo led to the first human landing on the Moon. The program featured crewed flights from 1968 to 1972 which ranged from test missions to lunar orbit missions to finally landing on and exploring the Moon. The final lunar landing of Apollo 17 took place 50 years ago, in December 1972, and no human has been back in lunar orbit or landing on the Moon since then. This talk will look back at the sights and sounds of Project Apollo with particular focus on the lunar orbits and landings, the science that was done there, and human experience that we all shared through the stories from the 12 astronauts who walked on the Moon.
