Lecture in English by Paul Salazar(VSW)

Munich Public Observatory, Gisela-Stein-Str. Ecke Ludwig-Jung-Bogen, 81671 München
Where are we, exactly? We live in a Universe of unfathomable proportions, of distances that we cannot imagine. But over the past 100 years our understanding of the size and scale of the Universe has become ever more exact and we can quite accurately place ourselves in the Solar System, which is in the Milky Way Galaxy, which is in the Local Group, which is in the Virgo Cluster, which is in the Virgo Supercluster, which is in Laniakea, which is moving toward the Great Attractor, and so on. In this fun and entertaining lecture, you will come to a deeper understanding of our actual place in the Universe and travel home with new ways to think about where exactly we are.
Following the event, we will continue on the rooftop for an observation using telescopes.
